Data security breaches can devastate an organization with expensive costs, humiliation, and fines. In case a breach does occur, it is the organization’s responsibility to have set policies and procedures on actions to take. Having set procedures and policies in place helps to protect an organization from suffering more consequences. Though IT Asset Managers do not perform IT security functions, they can still support security efforts by working with the IT security team to create a firm policy and clarified procedure on what to do if a breach occurs.
