40-60% savings as a lot of our hardware used to be deployed without any tracking whatsoever

I do not own the hardware piece of the org. I work closely with the service owner though on tracking. He handles the financial part.

I am not sure, but I know there are savings to be had. We have a lifecycle program in place but I think we can do better at matching hardware to specific job classifications and not overbuy technology people won’t use or need.

An ITAM program can drive hardware savings by extending asset lifecycles, repurposing underutilized devices, and preventing unnecessary purchases. By implementing proactive asset tracking, I would seek to reduce waste, improve procurement planning, and ensure hardware investments align with organizational needs while minimizing e-waste.

Accurate inventory management helps avoid over-purchasing and ensures that existing assets are redeployed where needed, reducing unnecessary expenses.

even though I don’t have this info, we are currently looking to maximize value of our assets through their entire life cycle.

Lifecycle Management Optimization: By effectively managing the lifecycle of hardware assets—from procurement to disposal—you can extend the useful life of equipment, reduce unnecessary purchases, and optimize replacement cycles.

Inventory Accuracy: Maintaining an accurate and up-to-date inventory helps prevent redundant purchases by ensuring that existing assets are fully utilized before acquiring new ones.

Hopefully our savings is equal to price increases
