A few of the most recent policies we’ve already created prior to us rolling out a formal ITAM program were: Data Retention Policies and Tech Refresh/Upgrade Policies.

The first policy I already implemented was that all hardware items must have paperwork before leaving the warehouse area. Our organization had been trying to go paperless, but shortly after I arrived I saw that there were multiple needs to have actual paperwork go with the physical assets out the door. Having signed, physical paper copies has saved many a headache for us.

The first policy I will create and enforce in our ITAM program is an Internal Audit Policy to allow us to be better prepared four outside audits and hopefully save on money by avoiding large fines.
