ParticipantI think that they depend on each other a lot. Education is useless unless it’s communicated out to the necessary parties and communication is not helpful unless it comes from a point of education.

ParticipantAs a whole, i think Policy Management is the most important to start with because without policy none of the rest of it matters.
However, in my organization, right now we are diverting our focus more to asset identification and location.

ParticipantI think that the most important policy would be a clear asset lifecycle policy. This policy defines how IT assets are requested, acquired, deployed, tracked, maintained, and disposed of. Without a well-documented and consistently enforced lifecycle policy, the entire ITAM program can break, which could lead to waste and compliance issues.

ParticipantMy organization has already enacted policies that cater to pretty much everything. My main challenge is getting leadership buy in to support those policies.

ParticipantOur organization is huge and has so many levels of leadership that pose stake in ITAM processes. CTO, CIO, President, various VPs, all of our technology services department, etc. etc. There are hundreds of folks in our organization that share stake in this.

ParticipantFinancial understanding, utilization of the SWOT map, and understanding of appropriate processes and the ability to communicate out the cost savings both from a hardware expense but also a compliance standpoint.

ParticipantMy role is centered around hardware management. Asset tagging, maintenance of inventory and stock levels, par setting, procurement, standards management, leasing, proper handling of data in the repository.
