Alexis Thomason

April 10, 2025 at 9:51 am in reply to: Being an IAITAM member demonstrates a commitment to growing the ITAM profession. In what ways will you personally contribute to the industry? #70886Alexis Thomason
ParticipantITAM as a profession is an ever growing industry. As a member, I intend to share my knowledge with my team and encourage my coworkers to grow their knowledge in the field as well. We all could benefit from better asset management practices and understanding.
April 10, 2025 at 9:49 am in reply to: How do your standards align with IAITAM’s high standards for the profession? #70883Alexis Thomason
ParticipantPersonally, my standards are constantly expanding and growing. As soon as we reach a standard that I am happy about, I move the goal post to push my team to reach even higher. The better asset management performs, the more we can save the organization, the more risk we can mitigate, and the more compliance we can reach.

ParticipantOnce we have mastered the existing 12, an additional KPA might be added for further asset management. However, at this time, I wouldn’t feel comfortable suggesting anything further.
April 10, 2025 at 9:26 am in reply to: Has your organization ever been audited? If yes, describe how it went. #70871Alexis Thomason
ParticipantWe have an annual audit each spring that is performed specifically on all payment devices in our organization. However, we have not been audited from an IT asset management perspective outside of PCI that I am aware of.

ParticipantOur existing asset tags have a barcode that corresponds with the asset number designated to that device. They also have our organizations name on them. Depending on the vendor or purchase method of the device the asset tags may also have a prefix indicating they were leased from a certain vendor, or tagged at a certain facility.
April 10, 2025 at 9:20 am in reply to: Discuss how much you know and understand about your organization’s finances. #70868Alexis Thomason
ParticipantWhile I am not privy to financial decisions before they are made, Asset Management is given a specific set of budgets each year to manage mostly at their own discretion. There are some capital expenditure restrictions that are made from time to time, but those are based on the successes and growth opportunities our Ministry may encounter from quarter to quarter. Our finance team does a fairly good job in keeping the average employee aware of important financial information.
April 10, 2025 at 9:14 am in reply to: Discuss how much you know and understand about your organization’s finances. #70864Alexis Thomason
ParticipantWhile I am not privy to specifics of my organization’s finances, Asset Management has a strict budget that we have to manage appropriately and we have certain approvals that must be granted in order to place larger orders. This policy is not always in effect, but we do have capital expenditure restrictions depending on how far from our financial goals we are each quarter. Our finance team does a fairly good job in keeping the average co-worker up to date on how our Ministry’s finances are being handed and how successful we are in reaching our goals.
