There needs to be a document that can let end users know what impact they have on ITAM and info that is sent around the organization.
There also needs to be documentation of ALL ITAM processes – HW and software – so that in the even that any system needs to be updated, there will be complete references.What percentage of hardware purchases go through a formal RFP process? -50; but that is because the org has repeat vendors that they use for hardware. No improvements needed on the ITAM side as this process is mainly ran by procurement.
What percentage of hardware assets are acquired through a centralized request process? – 100% – everything must be submitted in a formal ticket request that then flows through the different needed departments of the org.
Currently my organization is using discovery tools for hardware and software, as well as for activity on user accounts.
We could benefit from some type of software that automatically links service desk tickets with our hardware asset management database (without the need of brand new code being created)
1. Documentation Updates – is important within the team so everyone has somewhere to look to see how things should be working, and what to do if something isn’t up to par.
2. Reference Guide for Whole Organization explaining what ITAM is, why we’re important, and how their actions affect us. This is important because it could help to mitigate some of the problems that ITAM runs into on the regular relating to user submitted/updated data.The Health check template would be most useful. my organization could use it to review what we currently have as far as ITAM documentation, as well as help conclude what new documentation need to be created.
I would remove the suggestion for creating posters. I would add more training (possibly as people are being onboarded.)
The end user – they are effected, and can possibly influence any potential changes that need to be made.
Updating might be challenging – as documentation is completed, it’s not long before a system is upgraded or changed to different system all together. When this happens – you have to go through and edit everything that may have already been completed.
