Preparing For Exam Success!

What to Expect from Your IAITAM Certification Exam

At IAITAM, we understand that exams can be stressful — especially if it’s been a while since your last one, or if test-taking has never been your favorite experience. This guide is here to help reduce that anxiety and replace it with confidence.

We want you to feel informed, empowered, and ready to succeed.

What’s Inside?

This document will help you:

  • Understand how the exam is built and sourced
  • See examples of the types of questions you’ll encounter
  • Learn where to find the information you need
  • Feel more comfortable and in control before you begin

How the Exam is Designed

Each IAITAM certification course is built on three key components:

  1. The Certification Manual
  2. The Certification Presentation
  3. The Certification Exam

Every exam question is derived directly from the Manual and the Presentation. Since your exam is open book, that means everything you need to succeed is right at your fingertips.

Your goal: Answer enough questions correctly to earn a score of 85% or higher.

Types of Exam Questions

Let’s take a calm walk through the different question formats you’ll see on your exam:

Multiple Choice Questions

These are the most common type. You’ll be given a question and several possible answers. Select the single best answer.

Example:
Which of the following is a fruit?

  • ✅ Apple
  • ❌ Cabbage
  • ❌ Meatloaf

Multiple Response Questions

You’ll be asked to “Select all that apply.” There may be more than one correct answer. You must select all that apply in order to get a correct answer. Any partial answers will be marked as incorrect.

Example:
Which of the following are types of apples?

  • ✅ Red Delicious
  • ✅ Yellow Delicious
  • ✅ Granny Smith
  • ❌ Avocado
  • ❌ Rice

Matching Questions

These are interactive and often enjoyable! You’ll match related items — they’ll “snap” together like puzzle pieces by dragging and dropping next to the correct answer.

Example:

Item Match
Banana ✅ Yellow
Red Delicious ✅ Red
Granny Smith ✅ Green

True/False Questions

You’ll read a statement and decide whether it’s correct.

Example:

“The sky is green.”

  • ❌ Yes
  • ✅ No

Sequence Questions

These test your understanding of correct order. You’ll drag and drop answers into the appropriate sequence. You must place all responses in the correct order to get a correct answer. Any partial answers will be marked as incorrect.

Example:

Arrange these fruits alphabetically:

  1. ✅ Apples
  2. ✅ Bananas
  3. ✅ Cantaloupe
  4. ✅ Dates

Final Thoughts

You now know:

  • How the exam was created
  • Where your answers can be found
  • What the questions will look like
  • That you are fully capable of success

  • You can skip questions and return to them anytime using the numbered overview at the top of the screen. This function only applies to questions you have not submitted.
  • If, for any reason, you need to step away during your exam, don’t worry — your answers up to that point will be saved. However, please note that the exam timer does not pause. You will have a total of 3 hours from the time you begin to complete the exam, whether or not you step away. When you’re ready to resume, simply log back into the portal using the steps above, navigate to your course, and click “Continue Exam.”
