Most customers believe they know more about their technology finances than they really do. Shadow spend (namely SaaS and IaaS) is the biggest culprit. Another challenge has been in understanding the TCO of their technology investment. Disconnected systems (original purchase in one place, change tickets and costs in another, software elsewhere, support contracts in another etc.) make it very difficult to tell a connected story.
