Asset tags currently include a serial number that is repeated in a barcode and contains the name of the organization. A separate tag is affixed to devices to indicate the host name.

Our Asset Tags have a number on them, they are different colors based on the organization they represent, and an example is when a computer is imaged, an asset tag number is put into the BIOS to identify the equipment to belong to the organization and is tracked by the service tag and the asset tag.
