Our hybrid working model generally forces individuals to meet via an electronic medium rather than in person. This can cause challenges related to communication of thoughts and ideas and may require additional time spent clarifying requests.

Often it is a matter of identifying the audience and their motivations which frequently are to reduce risk and cost. Asset management generally achieve both ends if successful which lend to an easier time in negotiation.

James LyonsParticipantEvery organization will have a different version of their IS and SHOULD map depending on their maturity, complexity, and other factors. Having a foundation to describe the current state of an organization measured against industry-standard KPAs is a helpful exercise and prepares one to identify future growth and improvement areas in their “Should” map.

Often the people engaged in discussion do not know one another and have different expectations on how a task or problem should be handled. This frequently includes a different understanding of what a final result should look like. In these cases, having a good understanding of goals and direction is helpful. Engaging in regular review meetings and working sessions helps to prevent large miscommunications as most misunderstandings can be realigned in a reasonable timeframe.

James LyonsParticipantDon’t surround yourself with sycophants. Find colleagues who challenge perceptions and champion innovation and improvements in efficiency. Give staff a place to feel safe to discuss difficult topics and encourage them to discover solutions independently. Leaders should have a clear direction and try to remove obstacles for subordinates. Be open and honest in approaches and communicate issues in a timely manner.

There is a defined online process to generate a quote within my organization. Other requests are bubbled up through formal committees and project pathways.
