I checked in with all parties involved until I discovered where the miscommunication occurred. Then I clarified the correct information with all parties.

The best way to handle a miscommunication is to get all parties together and straighten everything out. It’s always best to go straight to the source.

I’ve had cases of miscommunication do to language barriers. I find written communication works best in those situations.

I misspoke and said something that the person I was speaking to did not like at all. I tried to explain what I meant to say and should have said but the relationship was permanently damaged.

    Miscommunication About Software Delivery Timelines
    What happened:
A project team expected E5 Licenses to be delivered by Friday for a new onboarding wave. However, the procurement team had scheduled delivery for the following Monday due to supplier lead times. The project team hadn’t been informed of the delay, and the onboarding was at risk.

    How It Was Handled:
    Immediate Acknowledgment
I acknowledged the miscommunication and took ownership of clarifying the situation.

    Clarified the Facts
I contacted procurement to confirm the delivery timeline and reasons for the delay.

    Communicated Transparently
I updated the project team with the correct delivery date and explained the cause of the delay.

    Proposed a Workaround
I arranged for temporary csp licenses to cover the onboarding needs.

    Prevented Future Issues
I worked with both teams to set up a shared delivery tracker and added a notification step for any changes in delivery schedules.

    Outcome:
The onboarding went ahead without disruption, and the teams appreciated the proactive communication and quick resolution. The new tracker also improved visibility for future deliveries.

A department thought that I said we were unable to acquire some software that they needed when in reality I was just letting them know it was not within their budget. We had rebundled some other software and we were able to make it work.

Sometimes language can become a barrier for understanding. Making sure I repeat back what I believe I heard helps to rectify miscommunications.

A new Organizational Chart discussed by our Leader during the townhall but the employee included in that Org Chart doesn’t know why their names are included in the org Chart, what are their roles, what are the company’s expectation and where are the guidelines. This kind of communications creates a lot of questions from the team.
