These happen continually. As soon as it becomes apparent, clarification is needed. Preferrably face to face.

there was miscommunication about who was submitting an order. We collaborated and determined where the confusion came from . We corrected the order issue and came up with a clear plan so the same error wouldn’t happen again. We clarified who would do what.

During a phone a phone conversation, my employee and I got into a shouting match with members of another team. I recommended that we meet in person. This would allow us to better gauge non verbal reactions and respond in a calmer manner.

Compliance agencies actively review to enforce compliance. If communications from the agencies are ignored, organizations are vulnerable to litigation.

There was a time when someone shared a vendor proposal with me, but didn’t mention that the license was for 6 months instead of 12. I sent it for approval thinking it was annual, and it went through all the steps. When it finally got to the licensing team, we realized the mistake. I followed up with the vendor to clarify, and since then, I always double-check license terms before submitting anything.

The best advice is to remain calm and figure out where the miscommunication occurred. The discrepancy needs to be worked through by both parties in a professional manner.
