Evaluate the strengths and weaknesses of the acquisition management processes best practice interactions to other KPA’s. What could be removed? What should be added? What could be modified? Why?
I don’t think that any interaction should be removed as they all work together for the overall program but I think that communication and education could be added in the workflow area – more the education than communication as that happens naturally within the process. Educating others of why we are acquiring certain things based on a request can be helpful in making future decisions as time goes on and maybe management changes.
A well managed acquisition management process has strengths in
– cost control
– conforming to compliance requirements
– high quality information to support better contract terms and service levels with vendors
However, acquisition management can have these weaknesses if not performed well:
– complexity and high administrative overhead cost
– system integration challenges
– dependencies on vendors
– challenges with budget constraints
