I would remain with the three KPA’s.

I also think Policy, Documentation, and Compliance should be the founders

These 3 are the cornerstone of everything done – other KPAs need to be included because best practices always use all 12 KPAs but without these 3 they will not be successful.

I would stick with those as the foundation. IF this is the chosen 3 that works for many, there must be a good reason why and won’t risk changing it. The modules explain why it is chosen as the foundation core.

I would stick with these three as they have worked for Asset Management in the past.

I think these are vital for any IT Asset Management project. There must be communication with immediate stakeholders as well as external stakeholders and that continued education, knowledge and experience. Program Management to ensure that your project is on track and there is a leader to guide team members of the project. As for policy management if there are not guidelines, policies and processed that must be followed and met, there will be no control within the organization and there will not be effective management of IT assets.

I would choose a different 3, Compliance, Acquisition & Disposal Management

If I were to suggest alternative or additional KPAs, I might consider:

Risk and Compliance Management: Ensuring that IT assets are used in ways that comply with laws, licensing agreements, and internal security policies. It addresses legal and financial risks.

Financial Management: ITAM programs rely on accurate financial tracking to manage costs, optimize investments, and avoid unplanned expenditures.

Data & Analytics Management: Effective ITAM programs use data to track usage, performance, and trends to optimize resources and make informed decisions.

As the 3 core processes are program management, communication and education management and policy management, it will act as the foundation of the ITAM program, but all 12 IAITAM KPAs must be implemented.
