Savings during tech refresh buys of IT Hardware with vendors providing discounts on bulk buys. Savings on identifying and reducing inventories of obsolete IT Assets.
Initially look to start at a 5-10% savings by doing the above.
Saving derived from identifying what software are no longer required that will reduce the need for contract renewals. What software versions are out of date and see if vendor has discounts on newer software version subscription packages.
To provide customers with the required IT Assets at the right place and time in order to meet the organizations operational mission while ensuring the organizational management and accountability of all IT Assets are adhered to DoD and Organizational regulations, policies, and guidelines.
There are no customers that I can think of who does not deal or have an IT assets that require management in the organization, especially a government organization under DoD who expect us to be good stewards IT Hardware due to appropriated funding is provided by Congress on behalf of the American people.
I think these are vital for any IT Asset Management project. There must be communication with immediate stakeholders as well as external stakeholders and that continued education, knowledge and experience. Program Management to ensure that your project is on track and there is a leader to guide team members of the project. As for policy management if there are not guidelines, policies and processed that must be followed and met, there will be no control within the organization and there will not be effective management of IT assets.
