We do. The Logistics department is responsible for wiping and decommissioning all equipment that reaches EOL. It is then sold the to public.

Our biggest problem is unused licenses. We try and audit them every 30 days to prevent this.

In our organization, IT/Fiscal are the only departments that do ITAM. Everyone else depends on us to track and manage all assets for them.

We are procurement and Logistics, so we are the big dogs at the top. Then we have Fiscal, which handles the tracking of assets valued at over 5000 dollars. At the bottom of the chart would be our desktop techs, who deploy new equipment and also collect hardware that is at the end of its life so we can wipe any data and get the items ready for resale to the public via our surplus store.

We regularly keep in contact with other counties in our area to coordinate and keep each other updated on any new Processes or technologies that aid us in Asset Management.
