December 17, 2024 at 9:34 pm in reply to: What hardware savings do you expect to uncover with your ITAM program? #65995Jennifer FedyszynParticipant
I am not really involved in the HAM side (SAM primarily).
December 17, 2024 at 9:33 pm in reply to: What software savings do you expect to uncover with your ITAM program? #65994Jennifer FedyszynParticipantWe need to continue discovery and reconciling data in our IT Asset Management tool before we can get to the step of realizing savings. We have had small wins in that area, but I’d expect 10-25% once our data is correct.
Jennifer FedyszynParticipantThis needs to be build, but it should be managing the complete lifecycle of an asset, inclusive of accurate and complete documentation, and using best practices for vendor management, acquisition management, etc.
December 17, 2024 at 9:29 pm in reply to: Name individuals in your organization who are not ITAM customers. #65992Jennifer FedyszynParticipantEveryone is ultimately an ITAM customer, even the workers in the field of our utility company (toughbooks, access to M365, iPhones).
Jennifer FedyszynParticipantYes, I would stick with those three, as I feel they are the most important.
December 17, 2024 at 9:26 pm in reply to: Create a RACI chart that includes individuals already involved or who will be involved in your ITAM program. #65990Jennifer FedyszynParticipantITAM team (analysts that negotiate/review agreements, perform compliance reviews; specialists that process requisitions, invoices, quotes), ITAM Team Lead, in-house contractors who manage hardware, our Procurement team, CIO, senior IT managers, Legal.
December 17, 2024 at 9:23 pm in reply to: What steps do you take to network with other individuals in the profession? #65989Jennifer FedyszynParticipantI haven’t done much. When going to trainings I try to network with other professionals, but I haven’t had much of an opportunity. I am looking to potentially join IAITAM, which may offer a few more opportunities.
December 17, 2024 at 9:21 pm in reply to: If your organization took the ITAM360 Assessment, what rating do you expect it would get for each KPA? #65988Jennifer FedyszynParticipantI’d say mid-range to low scores. Some areas we’re handling well, but we don’t have a software retirement process (haven’t had it for the last 6 years) due to resource constraints. There is definitely work to be done.
December 17, 2024 at 9:18 pm in reply to: Being an IAITAM member demonstrates a commitment to growing the ITAM profession. In what ways will you personally contribute to the industry? #65987Jennifer FedyszynParticipantI plan to implement what I learn within my ITAM team. I’ll also plan to continuously learn more in the IAITAM space.
December 17, 2024 at 9:17 pm in reply to: How do your standards align with IAITAM’s high standards for the profession? #65986Jennifer FedyszynParticipantWe have a lot of work to do to implement best practice standards. Since I’ve joined the team, my focus has been on Documentation Management, and internally educating and communicating with our team on the importance of accurate and complete documentation (we have lower level clerks that enter the data, but some don’t have much of a HAM or SAM background).
December 17, 2024 at 9:14 pm in reply to: Which IAITAM certification would you like to earn after CAMP? #65985Jennifer FedyszynParticipantI have already completed CSAM earlier this year, so I think I would either look at CHAMP or CITAD next.
December 17, 2024 at 9:12 pm in reply to: What additional KPA would you add to the list of 12? #65984Jennifer FedyszynParticipantI don’t think any additional KPA is needed.
December 17, 2024 at 9:12 pm in reply to: Has your organization ever been audited? If yes, describe how it went. #65983Jennifer FedyszynParticipantYes, we have been audited by external vendors in ITAM. While I wasn’t directly involved, some have gone well (in compliance), we have a small true-up to do, and one didn’t go well. The analyst who had initially worked on negotiations was using an email instead of the contract, and that did not fly with the vendor. We had to pay a significant amount in that instance.
Jennifer FedyszynParticipantOur asset tags have barcodes with unique numbers (10 digits long?).
December 17, 2024 at 9:08 pm in reply to: Discuss how much you know and understand about your organization’s finances. #65981Jennifer FedyszynParticipantI am not very involved in my organization’s finances other than being aware of some accounting principles and negotiating contracts with financial components. I’ve worked on capital projects as well, and in our organization, capitalization is paramount to O&M costs.
