May 25, 2024 at 9:25 am in reply to: Does your organization already have asset disposal? If not, what’s one thing you can do when you return to encourage that? #59868C. Alex JuarezParticipant
We have an established ITAD vendor and have created a very mature process and governance model. We are hoping to present (in 2025) with our ITAD partner.
May 25, 2024 at 9:23 am in reply to: What mobile savings do you expect to uncover with your ITAM program? #59867C. Alex JuarezParticipantWe do not have a large mobile fleet so our focus in the mobile space is risk, not financial.
May 25, 2024 at 9:23 am in reply to: What hardware savings do you expect to uncover with your ITAM program? #59866C. Alex JuarezParticipantNot certain I completely understand the question. We are careful not to use the word “savings” if ultimately what we’re doing is avoiding future cost. In this case, these are not hard dollars. We publish monthly and annual metrics on cost avoidance that more than double the cost of my own team.
May 25, 2024 at 9:20 am in reply to: What software savings do you expect to uncover with your ITAM program? #59865C. Alex JuarezParticipantWe have established a 15-18% average savings per title where we have created rules to reclaim for non-use. Officially, we publish a 10% goal and regularly achieve nearly 20%.
C. Alex JuarezParticipantOur mission (one single ITAM mission) is written in the Executive Summary of our published Hardware and Software standards.
May 25, 2024 at 9:17 am in reply to: Name individuals in your organization who are not ITAM customers. #59863C. Alex JuarezParticipantThere are none in our organization not involved, consumed, or impacted by ITAM.
C. Alex JuarezParticipantI agree, the three current Core KPAs are foundational and should be the first established for a truly successful program.
May 25, 2024 at 9:13 am in reply to: Create a RACI chart that includes individuals already involved or who will be involved in your ITAM program. #59861C. Alex JuarezParticipantWe have RACI charts written into our published Hardware and Software standards.
May 25, 2024 at 9:11 am in reply to: What steps do you take to network with other individuals in the profession? #59860C. Alex JuarezParticipantBy nature, I’m a confrontational person and very comfortable with networking. I like to share my ideas and ask others to share their ideas with me. Joining IAITAM has played a big part in this journey. Similarly, I have taken steps to join or learn other focus areas such as Tanium groups, FinOps, etc. I will continue to seek discussion and collaboration.
May 25, 2024 at 9:09 am in reply to: If your organization took the ITAM360 Assessment, what rating do you expect it would get for each KPA? #59859C. Alex JuarezParticipantIn many KPAs we are doing well such as Asset Identification, Disposal, Financial, and Vendor Management.
Some KPAs are present but lack overall governance such as Communication/Education, Compliance, Documentation, Policy, and Project Management.
Finally, there are KPAs that are entirely missing such as Acquisition, Legislation and Program Management.
May 25, 2024 at 9:04 am in reply to: Being an IAITAM member demonstrates a commitment to growing the ITAM profession. In what ways will you personally contribute to the industry? #59858C. Alex JuarezParticipantI am very proud of the program my team has built within my company and I have, or a team member has, attended ACE for the last three years. We are working very hard to integrate KPAs into our best practices and have discussed ideas for presentations at future conferences. I have also reached out to IAITAM leadership on future collaboration opportunity.
May 25, 2024 at 9:01 am in reply to: How do your standards align with IAITAM’s high standards for the profession? #59857C. Alex JuarezParticipantWhile I am happy with our current standards we’ve build in our organization, I find they are lacking a full 360 view into the actual governance of a program. My team has already been in discussion on improvements to both standards to parallel the high standards laid out in IAITAM documentation.
May 25, 2024 at 8:59 am in reply to: Which IAITAM certification would you like to earn after CAMP? #59856C. Alex JuarezParticipantI plan to attain most, if not all, of the available certifications. I manage our full IT asset space, both hardware and software. I recently attained CHAMP and will be taking the CAMP exam today. After I would like to pursue CSAM and CITAD.
C. Alex JuarezParticipantMy team is currently reviewing the KPAs and integrating into our hardware and software standards. Currently, we feel these are sufficient and comprehensive and have no additional suggestions.
May 25, 2024 at 8:56 am in reply to: Has your organization ever been audited? If yes, describe how it went. #59854C. Alex JuarezParticipantWe are a financial institution and audited regularly. Specifically our Asset/CMDB space is reviewed frequently by external/federal organizations as well as internal. In the vast majority of cases, our internal audit teams are more comprehensive and less nice. We tend to not do well in-house which helps us do extremely well external.
