The acquisition manager is the gatekeeper for policies standards and lifecycle. They attempt to prevent lost, incompatible documentation, they stand over the purchasing of licenses, prevent underutilization of assets by ensuring proper criteria are used to measure need and effectiveness. They also work to make strategic choices and redeploy already purchased licenses. They should reduce risk by adhering to standards and ensuring compliance.
There is no need to explain the title to human resources. The role has been established and the job description already approved.
Generally, roles and job titles do not have a one-to-one match, rather the titles are a bit more generic.
Each member of the asset teams have particular areas of focus and management support is only one area. The current team and process has been fully defined and staff and support across all domains established.

Yes, our organization already has a comprehensive asset disposal process. Our asset disposal process adheres to a number of different standards to ensure safe handling and certificate of destruction.
We are attempting to transition away from supplying mobile devices for users and instead leveraging a BYOD process. For those devices that are in the environment, their use is standardized and limited to certain divisions.
We have a pretty robust hardware process and do not anticipate any significant savings in the hardware arena.
At this point, I do not have an estimation of savings but there are areas where we know savings exist. Among them are in license harvesting, vendor pricing, contract renegotiations, and software catalog/capability streamlining.
Our mission is to have total lifecycle management for any asset. Devices should be tracked from point of order to disposal. Software catalogs should be created and maintained with attention paid to usage and compliance such that a report can be generated at will to assist in auditing.
Any user who does not have a direct need for software or hardware assets would be included here. That is a diminishing group of users in this day and age but there are still examples. Landscapers, painters, HVAC, plumbing, and other facilities maintenance individuals, housekeeping and kitchen staff. may fall into this category.
While these three KPAs may form the foundation for a successful program, having comprehensive processes in place that allow an organization to excel in Asset Identification Management and Compliance Management are functionally some of the most important KPAs and having insight into those areas will better inform where changes to Communication/Education, Policy and Program Management will need to be made.
