In Our Organization, I provide a service to GTS, so we only Manage Customer Accounts, our own Personal Company assets are managed by a different department
I am not sure on this one as we will be starting a Project for HW Optimization. The Company does have a department called GARS that makes the decision if an asset can be re-used for another account or be disposed of. The Re-Use of HW for other accounts is cost saving on it’s own and if an asset has a 0 NBV Value – we recommend for disposal as HW Maintenace then becomes Time and Material which is very pricy and at most times the parts can’t be sourced, and then give them an option to get a machine that is still in good condition that is stored with GARS.
Alot of savings hopefully more than 30% as we are busy with Mainframe SW Optimization and there is a lot of Installed Not Used over 13 months which we expect to be uninstalled before the next quarter…
In my previous role as Asset Manager HW Focal – it was to Manage HW from Receiving to Disposal.. .my current role is focused on Optimising Costs for SW and HW. We are going through an Organizational Change in a few weeks, so not sure what Department/Team I will be doing, but all in all it is within AM, so this course will assist me either way.
I would stick with those as the foundation. IF this is the chosen 3 that works for many, there must be a good reason why and won’t risk changing it. The modules explain why it is chosen as the foundation core.
It would be the Customer Account Service Delivery Team and Asset Management Team to decipher the Accountability and Responsibility
As this is my 1st step, education and qualification, I will have to find my networking sequence once I get there, baby steps to begin with, which I am sure I will quickly find myself eventually
I believe our organization should do well as they have these processes in place already on all the KPA’s listed. If it passes the Procurement stage, as that I believe is the toughest stage to actually get the assets approved, then all should flow from there.
With the knowledge and training I received once completing my course – this I can share with my team or any person from a different division and broaden their knowledge as well.
Our Company has these standards in process, I am learning these standards as I am being exposed to more roles and responsibilities within Asset Management
