April 23, 2024 at 5:46 pm in reply to: What software savings do you expect to uncover with your ITAM program? #58141Warren HerreraParticipant
Software? N/A at the moment. Currently, our focus is on leveraging our ITAM platform to catalog our hardware and VM spaces to provide a more robust and cohesive source of truth of assets. We’re hoping to incorporate software management at the beginning of next year.
Warren HerreraParticipantOur mission is to manage, control, and protect our IT Assets throughout their whole lifecycle.
April 23, 2024 at 5:40 pm in reply to: Name individuals in your organization who are not ITAM customers. #58139Warren HerreraParticipantTrick question! Everybody with a company e-mail address is an ITAM customer!
Warren HerreraParticipantThis is a great question and right off the bat, I definitely would stick with at least those three KPAs; however, I would argue that adding “Compliance” would be an additional KPA to include. Regardless of the standards that need to be met around compliance, or the stage in which a company is at, some level of Compliance seems to be something that should always be considered when developing an ITAM; otherwise, you run the risk of being in the “wild, wild, west” situation where anything goes making it increasingly harder and more difficult for your stakeholders who are responsible for wrangling all that in at a later date.

Apart from that, natural connections via LinkedIn from people that I’ve worked with in the past are also a means of networking with others.
April 23, 2024 at 5:25 pm in reply to: If your organization took the ITAM360 Assessment, what rating do you expect it would get for each KPA? #58135Warren HerreraParticipantI believe we would score fairly high across most of the 12 KPAs. The only two that I feel we would score lower than the rest of the KPAs are Comms & Education as well as Disposal.
April 23, 2024 at 5:21 pm in reply to: Being an IAITAM member demonstrates a commitment to growing the ITAM profession. In what ways will you personally contribute to the industry? #58134Warren HerreraParticipantI believe a community like this is only further strengthened by it’s members and their experiences. We all come from different backgrounds, different companies, different company sizes, and different company growth stages…and having a group of professionals to be able to lean on as you go through all these differences is very helpful and provides a different insight to things you otherwise would not have gotten. I personally would love to be able to support any ITAM professionals as they go through stages that I have already gone through by speaking on experiences and best practices that have worked for us while I also would love to be able to reach out to individuals for guidance who may be at a stage that our company is currently striving for.
April 23, 2024 at 5:16 pm in reply to: How do your standards align with IAITAM’s high standards for the profession? #58133Warren HerreraParticipantI believe our standards are eerily inline with IAITAM’s high standards for, not just the profession, but ITAM in general. As part of our compliance standards, we’ve already been guided on a few best practices; however, being introduced and going through what IAITAM’s standards are, reinforces and further builds on what we’ve already established, which is great to see.
April 23, 2024 at 5:12 pm in reply to: Which IAITAM certification would you like to earn after CAMP? #58132Warren HerreraParticipantCHAMP
Warren HerreraParticipantNaturally, the 12 KPA’s seem to be focusing directly on the management of assets, as it should be; however, I believe as part of Asset Management, specifically hardware, it’s important to know the various states in which the hardware can exist at the beginning of it’s lifecycle. While it may not be in scope for some, knowing the method in which assets are imaged/configured within your organization as a result of the work done by a CPE (Client Platform Engineer), or equivalent, is important to understanding the state of an asset at any given time. So, I would say “Technical Deployment Management” could be something to add to the 12 KPAs.
April 23, 2024 at 5:03 pm in reply to: Has your organization ever been audited? If yes, describe how it went. #58130Warren HerreraParticipantAs part of our continued compliance standards, our organization’s Assets Management is audited yearly. From the last report, no major findings were reported.
Warren HerreraParticipantOur current IT Asset Tags state a 4-digit unique identifying number along with a two(2) character prefix that denotes geolocation in relation to our office hubs (ex. US-1234 for an asset based in the United States).
April 23, 2024 at 5:00 pm in reply to: Discuss how much you know and understand about your organization’s finances. #58128Warren HerreraParticipantI’m not heavily involved in my organization’s finances; however, I’m fairly involved in my teams/department’s finances.
Warren HerreraParticipantRecently, management trends have began to shift to more of a hybrid approach to accommodate for both in-person, and remote employees. This forces IT departments to revise their processes to include best practices around efficiency and compliance for both scenarios.
