S – quick learner, great work ethic and at establishing relationships
W – new in my position and with IT in general
O – learning from people who have been around a long time and make things my own when I get the hang of it all
T – poking the bearMay 8, 2024 at 6:59 pm in reply to: Create a SWOT analysis of your current or anticipated ITAM program. #58914Sylvia VillamanParticipantSWOT analysis for anticipated ITAM program changes:
Strength- good team work, good reputation, mostly effective/efficient SOPs
Weakness- hiring issues/knowledge base issues, stuck in our ways, still operating small when we are a way larger dept. now
Opportunities- new leader willing to be innovative, make changes, and try new ways of doing things
Threats- hiring issues, lack of consistency, loss of fundingMay 8, 2024 at 6:50 pm in reply to: Describe a time when there was a miscommunication and explain how you handled it. #58913Sylvia VillamanParticipantThere was a miscommunication between me and a coworker about reference material that needed to be posted to our website for low bidders to access prior to submitting their bid. The items were not made available so we extended out the bid date by 7 days to allow bidders to review the material and decide if they still wanted to submit a bid.
Sylvia VillamanParticipantAnother step for the SPUR communication model could be delivery feedback or develop delivery. Receiving feedback on your delivery could assist future deliveries with other. Or figuring out how you can best deliver the information prior to presenting can ensure that you deliver in a way best suited for your audience.
Sylvia VillamanParticipantMy best leadership advice is become a good communicator. Be able to listen and receive feedback/constructive criticism, but also be able to speak up when needed as well as provide constructive criticism. Also, learning how to let an employee work through a project in their own way to get to the desired end result. Understanding that someone may not do something how you would do it, but if it gets the desired end result and the work product is up to standards then everything is fine.
May 8, 2024 at 6:38 pm in reply to: Think of another form of communication that isn’t mentioned in the chapter. #58905Sylvia VillamanParticipantAnother form of communication that isn’t mentioned in the chapter is visual communication. Although it does mention sign language, the chapter does not elaborate on forms of visual communication/symbols/imagery.

The Acquisition Manager ensures that the asset meets the needs, requirements, and standards of the organization as well as those of the stakeholder. The Acquisition Manager is responsible for obtaining proper
justification for products prior to purchase.May 7, 2024 at 6:47 pm in reply to: How will you explain the various job titles to the Human Resources Department? #58867Sylvia VillamanParticipantEach department has tried to explain various job titles to Human resources, to no avail. HR can be shown job descriptions, studies, market studies, requests from directors but they will not make a new classification. each job title must be made to fit into an already existing classification.
Sylvia VillamanParticipantNo, the roles do match job titles at all. We have to fit all roles into existing job titles :(

May 7, 2024 at 6:36 pm in reply to: How can your organization help the environment when it comes to IT assets? #58864Sylvia VillamanParticipantMy organization can help the environment when it comes to IT assets by only purchasing what is needed, not over-purchasing, and using the asset for it’s full useful life especially when it moves from one employee to another due to transfer/separation/reassignment/etc.. We can also re-deploy if possible. Also by following our disposal process properly.
May 6, 2024 at 6:11 pm in reply to: Does your organization already have asset disposal? If not, what’s one thing you can do when you return to encourage that? #58848Sylvia VillamanParticipantYes my organization already has an asset disposal SOP. Our IT warehouse employees manage most of the process and prepare the assets for auction.
May 6, 2024 at 6:09 pm in reply to: What mobile savings do you expect to uncover with your ITAM program? #58847Sylvia VillamanParticipantI am unaware of the savings we hope to uncover for mobile savings with our ITAM program. This is a topic I will have to take back to my team for further discussion.
May 6, 2024 at 6:08 pm in reply to: What hardware savings do you expect to uncover with your ITAM program? #58846Sylvia VillamanParticipantI am unsure of the savings we expect to uncover for hardware savings with our ITAM program. I will have to take this question back to my team for further discussion. I only know that we hope to do better on future audits based on the large fines we incurred recently from multiple audits that took place this fiscal year.
