Whenever miscommunication happens, I make sure to take the time to understand both sides of issue, relay the intention, and then make it a point to get both parties in the room to explain. Not only an explanation is warranted, but having a plan for moving forward that can be implemented to avoid such a miscommunication from happening again.

April 23, 2024 at 7:16 pm in reply to: Think of another form of communication that isn’t mentioned in the chapter. #58159Warren HerreraParticipantThe chapter does mention electronic communications; however, I thought it worth mentioning that most of the time people may automatically think DMs using popular communication apps or e-mails. A form of communication that our team uses on a regular basis are project management platforms (i.e. JIRA, Asana, etc). Everything from bulk ordering to be a bit more conservative on frequency of shipments, to the redeployment of assets that are still within our tech specs to prevent more devices from being ordered, to ensuring that our disposal partners adhere to a strict environmental impact study when physically destroying laptops or the recycling of parts is always considered.
April 23, 2024 at 5:50 pm in reply to: Does your organization already have asset disposal? If not, what’s one thing you can do when you return to encourage that? #58144Warren HerreraParticipantYes, our organization currently has a system in place for asset disposal; however, different office locations in other parts of the world are a bit more challenging to set up than others. Upon returning, I would hope I can leverage information learned from how others are handling asset disposal to further shore up current processes. Unfortunately, one of the challenges we’re facing are the lack of resources to dedicate to refining and improving the process.
